Presentation Instructions

Spotlight presentation is not optional, but obligatory to the authors who are accepted as the poster presentation.

Oral sessions

  • Oral presenters should be present at the main conference room at least 10 minutes before the start of the session and should introduce themselves to the session chairs as soon as they arrive.
  • If you require any special assistance during your talk or to get to the podium, please let the session chair know of this before the session or email the program chairs.
  • Oral speakers should test their own laptops with the projector before the session, to avoid any technical difficulties.
  • Oral talks are given 15 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions. Please make sure you do not exceed the given time limit.
  • All oral presenters are asked to present their work as a poster. Your poster is scheduled for the first poster session following the oral session of your paper. During the poster session a poster board will be provided for you.

Poster sessions

  • Each poster is assigned a specific board identified by paper id. Check with the volunteers or the registration desk if you cannot find your poster board.
  • The physical dimensions of the poster boards that will be available are A0 portrait size. See for details.
  • Each poster this year will also have a spotlight presentation. Each spotlight presenter will give a very short (60 seconds max) "teaser" talk to advertise his/her poster. Approximately 20 spotlight presentations are scheduled at the beginning of poster session.
  • Slide for the spotlight should be PowerPoint format (.ppt or .pptx) and the number should be maximum 4 pages including the title slide. In the title slide, provide the title and authors of the paper and please underline the author giving the spotlight talk. In the following slides, please enter your poster ID into the top-left field of the slide. The poster ID is in the format P<SessionID>-<Poster #> (see Program to find your Poster #). You can include video, but it should be included in the pptx file and make everything in just one file.
  • Our video projector's resolution is 1280x1024, so please make your slide with a classic format (4:3), but not a wide format (16:9).
  • There is a session chair for each spotlight session and your slide will be clicked by the chair, but not by an author. Therefore, we recommend you to make your slide fully automatic for smooth operation.
  • DEADLINE: Slides for the spotlight are due by Sunday, November 30th. This is a hard deadline, and we will not be accepting the presentations nor any changes or additions after the deadline (presentations not received by the deadline will not be included in the spotlight session). Please upload your slide for the spotlight through CMT. You can upload single ppt or pptx file as a supplementary material.

Submission Instructions

Papers conforming to the guidelines described below should be uploaded to the 3DV 2014 Submission Website (CMT)  - https://cmt.research.microsoft.com/3DV2014.

Submission deadline: July 9, 2014 - 6pm PST.

Supplementary materials: July 14, 2014 - 6pm PST.

The file size limit for the main paper is 10MB and for the supplementary material is 30MB.

Due to the tight review timeline, there will be no deadline extensions. Reviews will be made available to authors September 6, 2014.

All accepted papers will be published by IEEE Computer Society's Conference Publishing Services (CPS) and submitted to IEEE Xplore and CSDL.

Authors Instructions

A complete paper should be submitted in PDF format with no more than 8 pages in length and should adhere to the formatting guidelines described in the links below. It should describe original work within the topics of interest of 3DV. Papers with more than 8 pages or not following the formatting instructions will be rejected without review.

Anonymity: All reviewing will be double blind, so the paper must not include any information which allows the authors to be identified. For example, this might require that some references to the authors' previous work be left blank or that authors refer to their previous work in the third person. This is not optional. Papers that provide obvious identifying information will be rejected without review.

Confidentiality: 3DV 2014 reviewing is considered confidential. All reviewers are required to treat every manuscript they review as a confidential document and not to share or distribute materials under review for any reason other than to facilitate the reviewing of the submitted work. Reviewers are obligated to remove or destroy them after review.

Dual Submission: The 3DV conference publishes original, peer-reviewed, full papers. It does not accept dual submissions. By submitting a manuscript to 3DV 2014, the authors assert that it has not been previously published in substantially similar form. Furthermore, no paper which contains significant overlap with the contributions of this paper either has been or will be submitted during the 3DV 2014 review period to either a journal or a conference. 3DV also applies strict rules on plagiarism.

Supplementary Material: Supplemental material (additional PDF file, video) can also be uploaded to the submission site after you have created the paper entry and uploaded the PDF file. To ensure that the reviewers consult this material, please ensure that the file is easily readable with common players and codecs and correctly referred in the paper. Remember that the reviewers are NOT obliged to view the video, so it is to your advantage to make their life as easy as possible by ensuring its easy readability: details of format, tested player and version, codec, timing, etc. Please remember that the video contents should also be anonymized.

If necessary, authors are invited to contact program chairs using the following email: 3dv2014contact@ml.sys.wakayama-u.ac.jp
